Add or Subtract Date
Add or subtract a number of days, weeks, months or years from a date.
Result
Worked example
31 January plus 1 month is 28 February (or 29 February in a leap year).
How we calculated this
Days and weeks move by an exact number of calendar days (a week is always 7 days). Months and years use calendar-aware arithmetic. If the starting day does not exist in the target month (for example, 31 January plus 1 month), the result clamps to the last valid day of that month rather than rolling into the following month. The amount is always a positive whole number; use Add or Subtract to choose the direction.
What this result means
The result is the date you land on after adding or subtracting the amount and unit you chose.
Examples
- 29 February 2024 plus 1 year: 28 February 2025 (2025 is not a leap year)
