How it works

Xiliro converts through defined base-unit relationships (for example, every length unit converts through the metre) using exact internationally defined constants. The displayed result may be rounded for readability, but the underlying calculation always uses the full, unrounded value. A negative input is converted mathematically in the same way as a positive one, rather than being rejected — useful for a signed measurement such as a displacement, a coordinate difference or a directional offset, rather than a literal negative physical distance.

What this result means

The converted value uses exact, defined conversion factors between the two units you chose.

Assumptions and limitations

Unlike most of Xiliro's other physical converters, this one does not reject a negative value.
