Worked example

Unix timestamp 0 seconds is 1 January 1970, 00:00:00 UTC, the Unix epoch.

How we calculated this

A Unix timestamp counts elapsed seconds (or milliseconds) from 1 January 1970 at 00:00:00 UTC. It is never a local time, so results are always shown in UTC. Choose whether your timestamp is in seconds or milliseconds; Xiliro does not guess the unit from how many digits you enter. Milliseconds are always seconds × 1,000. A negative timestamp (before 1970) is accepted as long as it falls within this site's supported calendar range of year 1 to year 9999.

What this result means

The result is the same instant in time expressed the other way round — a Unix timestamp, or a calendar date and time.
